A little about the organizer - Zach Pine
Playfulness, curiosity, creativity, communication, and connection are at the heart of all Zach’s work on and off the dance floor. He has a strong commitment to inclusion, equity, and the creation of safer places. Zach has been dancing since 1972, doing contact improvisation since 2006, and teaching contact improvisation since 2013 at Athletic Playground in Emeryville, California, as well as elsewhere. He is also a co-organizer of a weekly all-volunteer produced no-admission-fee community dance, since 2010. He’s been lucky to learn from many teachers, including Nancy Stark Smith, Nita Little, Ishmael Houston-Jones, Keith Hennessy, J. Miakoda Taylor, Catherine Caraker, René Alvarez, Brenton Cheng, Vitali Kononov, Rosemary Hannon, Rossana Alves, Judith Smith, Sonsherée Giles, Sebastian Grubb, Karl Frost, Aaron Jessup, Ronja Ver, Sue Stuart, Miriam Wolodarski, Carmen Serber, Rajendra Serber, Ralf Jarochinsky, Kim Epifano, Krista DeNio, Karen Nelson, Kara Davis, Utam Moses, Mihyun Lee, Katerina Eriksson, Ray Chung, Shira Yaziv, Scott Wells, Kevin O’Connor, Nancy Hughes, and Sue Lauther.
